Eye Disease- Keratoconus

December 09, 2015 4
Keratoconus is a progressive eye disease in which the normally round cornea thins and begins to
bulge into a cone-like shape. This cone shape deflects light as it enters the eye on its way to the light-sensitive retina, causing distorted vision. Keratoconus can occur in one or both eyes and often begins during a person's teens or early 20s. As the cornea becomes more irregular in shape, it causes progressive nearsightedness and irregular astigmatism to develop, creating additional problems with distorted and blurred vision. Glare and light sensitivity also may occur. Studies suggest the weakening of the corneal tissue that leads to keratoconus may be due to an imbalance of enzymes within the cornea. This imbalance makes the cornea more susceptible to oxidative damage from compounds called free radicals, causing it to weaken and bulge forward. It also is associated with overexposure to ultraviolet rays from the sun, excessive eye rubbing, a history of poorly fitted contact lenses and chronic eye irritation.

In the mildest form of keratoconus, eyeglasses or soft contact lenses may help. But as it progresses and the cornea thins and becomes increasingly more irregular in shape, these measures no longer provide adequate vision correction. Keratoconus treatment for moderate and advanced cases include Treatments for moderate and advanced keratoconus include gas permeable contact lenses, hybrid contact lenses, scleral and semi-scleral lenses, corneal cross-linking or transplant, and topography-guided conductive keratoplasty. Centre for Sight is one of the eye hospitals in India that provides services eye surgery, keratoconus and a host of medically advanced techniques in India. At CFS, we care for eye care.

Take good care of what brings you beauty every day

November 24, 2015 0
While we go by our daily routines there is always a few things that get our attention. It can be anything. A child passing by, a sunset, a person, an animal, a balloon in the sky, and pretty much anything that appears to us as something out of our routine and different from what we were expecting. Seeing all of that right before our eyes can be inspiring, thought provoking, challenging sometimes or just pretty.

The main thing that is also important to remember with this is that all of it is possible because of the great gift of a good sight. But sometimes that is not the case of a few people. The eye is a sensitive thing and it can suffer from many types of problems.

The advantage is that with today’s technology and study, there are a lot of treatments available for people to get their sight restored. There is cosmetic eye surgery, eye cancer treatment, squint treatment and many other kinds of procedures that can help people with any difficulty to see to restore their sight or improve their current conditions of seeing.

Sometimes is something that people just developed over the years and got used to it, so they didn’t look for treatment right away. That can happen in cases like squint condition. Something that affects many people and may appear as a simple eye muscle condition, but it can be treated and squint treatment is available exactly for the benefit of people having their sight restored in a healthy way.

All of those treatments are available in a great variety of clinics, but it is important to choose one with highly skilled professionals that you truly trust to deal with your health and a clinic that shows professionalism, clean interiors and a great staff to help you. Glaucoma- An Overview

October 26, 2015 0
Glaucoma is a medical condition that causes damage or harm to one’s eye's optic nerve and gets worse over time. It's often associated with a buildup of pressure inside the eye. It tends to be inherited and may not show up until later in life. The increased pressure, known as intraocular pressure, can damage the optic nerve, which is responsible for transmitting images to the brain. If damage to the optic nerve from high eye pressure continues, glaucoma can cause permanent loss of vision. Also, without treatment, glaucoma can cause total permanent blindness within a few years. Because most people with glaucoma have no early symptoms or pain from this increased pressure, it is important to see your eye doctor regularly so that glaucoma can be diagnosed and treated before long-term visual loss occurs.

Glaucoma in adolescents is similar to glaucoma in adults. Glaucoma in children of all ages is rare, unlike adult chronic glaucoma, which is relatively common. Glaucoma affects roughly 1 in 2000 children. In older children the eye responds to increased intraocular pressure in a manner similar to adults. Unlike younger children there is no increase in the size of the eye and the cornea does not become cloudy. Thus the onset of glaucoma in these children is much more likely to be asymptomatic. Centre for Sight provides eye doctor and glaucoma specialist for the treatment of glaucoma across the nation. Besides that, services for cataract treatment, LASIK and other eye care specialties are also available at all the outlets.

For Your Eyes Only

For Your Eyes Only
Retinal detachment is a very grave eye condition that happens when the retina separates from the tissue around it. This can lead to permanent blindness if the detached retina isn't repaired promptly. Retinal detachment can occur to people who are severely nearsighted or have had an eye injury or cataract surgery. People with a family history of retinal detachment are also highly susceptible to it. A detached retina doesn’t hurt and therefore, it is overlooked at times. The common symptoms are flashes of light, seeing small flecks or threads (floaters) and darkened peripherals. It can be easily diagnosed by an eye doctor with an eye exam.

Retinal detachment treatment includes crypexy, pneumatic retinopexy, vitrectomy etc. Cosmetic eyelid surgery is a surgical procedure designed to improve the appearance of your eyes, primarily to reduce signs of aging. It is commonly known as Blepharoplasty. For most people, blepharoplasty is a long-lasting procedure. The improvement in eyelid appearance from blepharoplasty generally can last as long as 10 years. Besides blepharoplasty, other cosmetic eye procedures include removal of fat pads under the eyelids to reduce "puffy eyes," surgical correction of a drooping eyelid and removal of skin tags and other growths from the eyelids. There will be some eyelid swelling and bruising after blepharoplasty.

Alongside, these treatments one prime thing is eye donation. Eye donation is a great act of charity and more and more people should pledge to donate their eyes. Various eye banks are present all over the country and campaigns for eye donation in Delhi, Mumbai, and other major cities are held every now and then. Pledge to donate your eyes and give the gift of sight to someone.

Eye To Eye

August 31, 2015 0
Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. It just takes one simple line to epitomize the importance of “EYES” and how it weaves different aspects of life together. The gift of sight is one of those opportune gifts that makes or breaks the life of an individual. No amount of facts or theories is enough to cite the importance of the sense of sight.

For the less blessed ones who for some reason are deprived of this sense, the act of living itself becomes taxing and tough as at every point some sort of guidance is needed because of this impairment. It not only makes them handicap but also disheartens them to a certain extent because of their lack of independence and freedom of movement.  One of the major disappointments is that most of the places are not well-equipped for the blind and there is a great dearth of facilities for them to exercise.

Science has definitely steered the world into a completely different direction. With the invention of scientific medical treatments and technological advancements, curing of permanent blindness and other eye-related ailments has become easier than what it used to be in the past.  It is no longer an incurable phenomenon, at least, for most of the cases.

LASIK or laser eye treatment has paved ways for the treatment of vision correction for people with myopia, hypermetropia and astigmatism through surgery. According to a few studies, almost 96% of patients can have their desired vision after laser eye treatment. It is a painless procedure and no bandages or stitches are obligatory after the operation.

Corneal grafting or cornea transplant is a surgical procedure performed on a damaged or diseased cornea generally replaced by donated corneal tissue. This kind of transplant is done when medicines, keratoconus conservative surgery and cross-linking cannot nurse back to health cornea anymore.

Cataract problems are usually accompanied with age and it is typically prevalent in senile patients. Femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery has brought new levels of safety, accuracy to LASIK and has also advanced cataract surgery. The duration of the procedure is less and the recovery time is about a month.

Treating Some Major Eye Issues

July 17, 2015 0
Cataract is most commonly found and largely affecting eye disorder. It is undetectable at the very early stage. To be on safe side, one should be concerned about any conspicuous changes in the vision. If any anomaly is suspected, it should be immediately brought to the eye care professional’s attention. Common symptoms of cataracts include - cloudy or blurred vision, sensitivity to light and glare, poor night vision, color vision changes and dimming, double vision in a single eye etc. Though Cataract is pretty harmful to the eyesight, modern day cataract surgeries usually can restore vision lost to cataracts — and often can reduce your dependence on eyeglasses as well. An uncomplicated cataract surgery typically lasts only about 15 minutes. But expect to be at the surgical center for 90 minutes or longer, because extra time is needed to prepare you for surgery and for a brief post-operative evaluation and instructions about your cataract surgery recovery before you leave.

Apart from Cataract surgery, one more surgery which CFS is efficient in delivering is surgery for Retinal Detachment Treatment. It is only possible through replacement of a clouded cornea which is the only means of restoring full vision. If the rest of the eye is normal, the cornea is replaceable through transplant surgeries. However, it is important to remember that vision can be restored only to the extent that the other parts of the eye are normal. One should contact Centre for Sight for quality eye care treatment and quality opinions as it is rightly known as best Cataract Surgery Hospital in India, helping in eliminating eyesight problems with one of the best known Lasik eye surgery and Retina treatment in India. Centre for Sight has a team working dedicatedly to provide excellent support to those in the need of eye care, it has been a provider of clinical opinions and the specialized eye care with keeping in touch with the recent cutting edge technology.

Many specialized types of contact lenses have been developed for keratoconus, and affected people may seek out both doctors specialized in conditions of the cornea, and contact lens fitters who have experience managing patients with keratoconus. The irregular cone presents a challengeand the fitter will endeavor to produce a lens with the optimal contact, stability and steepness.

At centre for sight, The ReLEx Smile – NOBLADE method is the latest leap in laser vision correction. It is not only a 100% blade-free approach to laser vision correction, but is a step superior to the No Blade approach of Femto – LASIK. In Femto-LASIK, a laser is used to create the corneal flap, which is then folded back by the surgeon to perform the LASIK procedure. While Femto-LASIK or No Blade LASIK is superior to the more traditional method of blade LASIK, it still means that a corneal flap needs to be created in your eye.

Eye Surgeries at CFS

April 09, 2015 0
Retinal Detachment Treatment is only possible through replacement of a clouded cornea is the only means of  restoring full vision. If the rest of the eye is normal, the cornea is replaceable through transplant surgeries. However, it is important to remember that vision can be restored only to the extent that the other parts of the eye are normal. Only the central portion of the cornea is involved in transplantation. The surgeon excises an appropriate circular disc of the patient's cornea and replaces it with a similarly sized disc of donor cornea, which is then sutured into place.

Other than that, t\here is one more issue treated at CFS, which is called cosmetic eyelid surgery or Blepharoplasty. This involves removing fat, usually along with excess skin and muscle, from the upper and lower eyelids. Loose skin above the eyes, tired eyes or bags under the eyes can be improved dramatically with eyelid surgery. Eyelid surgery can correct drooping upper lids and puffy bags below your eyes -- features that can make you look old and tired, or even interfere with your vision.

Treating Eyesight issues with Centre For Sight

February 24, 2015 0
Changes start happening in our body with time, some of which are undesirable, affects the normal and proper required functioning. One strong example can be understood with our eyes. Eyes have crystalline lens which works to focus on things at varying distances. This lens becomes stiff and hardens to some extent, losing its ability to focus and creating sight issues without its youthful adaptability. With these changes occurring in the natural crystalline lens with passing time, it can possibly lead to cataracts, which is clouding of the lens inside the eye causing loss in clarity of the lens and therefore losing its power to focus light properly. There can be two ways Cataract can be treated.

Proper care is one way you can avoid getting this precious gift of god safe from perilous factors which can harm the vision. If it is not major, eye peripherals can be used to correct the minor vision dizziness. Other is the most used and known, surgical treatment for removal of cataract. If the stage has come where it cannot be treated with normal gestures, surgery becomes a necessity.

One should contact Centre for Sight for quality eye care treatment and quality opinions as it is rightly known as best Cataract Surgery Hospital in India, helping in eliminating eyesight problems with one of the best known Lasik and Retina treatment in India.
